Dongdaemun Museum, Bukchon and more~

Yesterday was a full day of being a tourist in Seoul with friends I haven't seen since last year. Although it has been 2 years since I was last here, there definitely has been many changes here. Sunday morning, I decided to meet my language exchange buddy, who helped me a lot with my Korean while I was in Victoria. It was so great to be able to see her again. We went to the newly established Dongdaemun museum. It really has an interesting/futuristic design and we decided to check it out. Inside there were a couple of exhibits that you could choose to visit, but we decided to go to an exhibit called The Treasures of KANSONG: Preserving national Identity through Culture. Apparently this person named Kansong was a collector of some of Korea's national treasures and now it has been placed in a museum. One of the treasures, that I personally mostly recognized, was the transcript of King Sejong's explanation of Hangeul called the Hunminjeongeum. Picture taking was forbidding...

Osaka! Takarazuka! Junsu?

So where do I begin? Last time I told you I was going to update in Japan but I ended up not doing that because on the flight to Japan, I made friends with the person beside me. We somehow connected in conversations during the flight over that, before she had to move on to Shanghai, thought we should chill together a little bit more. (Which reminds me that I need to e-mail her). Anyways, the flight over to Korea eventually was uneventful besides the turbulence in the beginning, well landing in Japan was very turbulent as well. The weather was not great at that time to say the least. Landed safely and I was happy to see that my friends had came to pick me up. Keeping it Korean style, decided to take a picture of my arrival/reunion. We caught up with each other on the way to the friend's place I'm staying at, and it really felt surreal for me to be back in Korea. It was nice and welcoming at the same time it was... yup I'm in Korea... kind of reaction. Since my plane lande...

At YVR now~

I can't believe the day has arrived! I am departing today for Korea. \(^0^)/ It's been a while since I've been to the Vancouver Airport... To be honest, the last time was last year around this time of the year. That was to pick up/drop people off. ;A; Now it's my turn to depart. The fact that I'm departing is so exciting. Just until yesterday I was working at the coffee shop and then today I'm chilling in the waiting to board the plane at YVR. Yesterday was Victoria Day and the coffee shop was super busy and I was happy to have my shift finish early so I can clean up the apartment a bit of course as well as packing for today. Since I live with a roommate and I know she'll be there for the 2 weeks I'm gone, I feel bad leaving it messy before I leave. So I kind of wet crazy cleaning mumbling lady. hahaha oh well. Ended up falling asleep at around 1am and waking up at 5:00 to get ready to leave to take the ferry over to Vancouver. Yeah. I didn't go ...

My coffee art ;)

Look at the range of coffee art I managed to produce last week. I don't know if I'm improving or not but after awhile being a barista... it takes a toll on your shoulder and wrist but it makes going to work easier because there's always something to look forward to. However when I'm having a bad day... art doesn't come out... OTL. Oh well. Every day is a different day. At least coffee quality should be consistent. Tee hee

Eating out in Victoria

As I'm preparing to move out of Victoria, I realize I don't write much to introduce the area. Having lived here for most of my undergraduate degree, I have eaten out a lot here and there are several places I would like to recommend to people if they ever decide to fly over to Canada and stop by BC's capital of Victoria. There are many good places to eat in this city. Since it's by the harbour, seafood is always the first choice to eating out here in Victoria. As a student, going out to eat seafood is very expensive but I do enjoy my fish and chips. During the summer, there's this amazing  fish and chips place that usually you have to wait more than two hours in line to get. The place is called " Red Fish Blue Fish ." The location is down by the wharf and it is outdoor, even if they provide a small covering. It's nice to eat outside when the weather is great though. When I come to eat here and it's crappy weather, it shows that I was really cravin...

Oh my~ I'm no longer a student.

Well~ it has been a verrrrry long time since I've decided to update this blog and I really do apologize. Being in Victoria, I figured my life has been relatively routine; juggling between my part-time job at the coffee shop, school and my personal time. Although as I was going through my last year of my undergraduate career, I thought that every day was super exciting, when I sat down to write it, I realize it was relatively personal and uneventful. Not compared to my days in Korea or in Japan. However, on Monday, by handing in my last two papers into the office, it marked the very last day of my university undergraduate status. It is slightly a weird feeling. YET! here comes the most exciting news of all! May 20th. I am off to Korea! Although originally I was going to go for a full 3 weeks. I might have to end earlier than I thought because my graduation ceremony is earlier than I initially thought. oh well. I have a lot of time to go to Korea again because guess what ag...

Accomplished goal!

So, May is slowly coming to a close and my goal for finding a part time before the end of the month has been accomplished as well. I FINALLY got hired yesterday and today was my first day on the job. I now work at local coffee shop part time. So I can still enjoy my summer and not be working behind a counter. I like the hours of the shop and that I don't have to work so late... just early. Although I guess it's been a really long time since I've worked, I am really tired after the first day of work and I only worked 4 hours! Sighs. As expected for the first day, I was mostly cleaning and arranging things, inventory etc. The basic things. The organization and planning that the management has put into the place is amazing! I don't have to ask what to do next nor am I doing the awkward standing around doing nothing because I'm new. There is a list of things to do and all I have to do is look and do. If I don't know how to do things, they teach me. It's pretty s...
