Very free week

This week I was very free. The school had a test. So I was free this whole week. So I would go to school. And go to the library for some alone studying. Than when test is over I would go to the classroom and clean and then go home. This whole week except friday I went to school by bicycle. I am slowly getting used to it. I am slowly remember the roadway. Slowly. Step by step.
Monday was a holiday here. I bought some manga books. Sunday was the middle school sports day. It was really a fun day. Except really hot. Asuka chan was working hard. I also bought some origami paper to work on whenever I am bored. I bought a hat for only 7 bucks. Canada it is normally 20 bucks for a single hat. Here it is sooo cheap. There were fashionable shoes for 3 bucks. A fashionable vest for only 9 bucks. Where as in Canada is in the 20s. I have 5 months to purchase those. hahaha. I only bought a hat tho.
Next week I have tuesday off because the day is half and half. 12 hours day and 12 hours night. Kind of weird but great. Monday is the last day of testing. So last day of free time in the library I mean study time in the library. NO I actually do study in the library. I am trying to memorize 80 kanji. My goal is to remember them by the end of the first week of October. Will I Succeed? I hope so. It's really difficult. First week of October as well is very busy for me. School festival is on the 3rd and 4th. Than the end of October is sports festival. So really busy for October.
Today at 4 o'clock I am going to Ouchi san's place. They are going to show me kurashiki and talk about the Church in Kurashiki. I am looking forward to meeting them. Finally a church. ^0^
I showed my homestay father a golf advertising booklet I brought from Canada, he was really happy. He kept saying he wanted to go to Canada just for the golfing experience. My homestay mother knows about the Little house on the prairie series. That is her image of canada. So I showed her some images of Canada.
Sunday after I return from Kurashiki I am hoping to make some chocolate chip cookies. I couldn't find any oatmeal here so I am just making chocolate chip cookies. They sorta have a very small oven. But it is okay. ^0^. cookies are easy to bake. Surprisingly most of the students in school here don't know how to cook. Most of the time it is their mothers that do it. Only some students know how. Yet they study home economics at school. Yet home economics at school is not hands on. It is only from books.
well I can't think of anything else. I am working hard here. ^0^

    Yea in korea too we never learned to cook. only in the textbook. haha sounds fun :)

Work work work

So ever since I went came back from Victoria (I was there to look or houses) I have been busy with work! It is a really good thing and it keeps me busy during the summer but at the same time I get really tired at the end of the day. Let me start with my house searching adventures in Victoria. I wanted a place where it is cheap an close to campus. Yeah it is quite an idealistic approach but hey it's better than having no expectations I guess. However after going to look at places for three days straight, my future roommate and I got a little down from not finding anything and I almost compromised my requirements in order to have something. Back and forth~

By the time I was about to write about the rest of my Korean trip, I had to get ready to go home and then prepare to return to this side of the world to Japan. So my summer before arriving in Japan has been mostly been work and preparing to move out of Victoria and move overseas to Japan. Now that I have been in Japan, I feel like it's a sin for not having written anything. Arrived in Tokyo on August 3rd. We arrived an hour earlier than scheduled but that doesn't change anything because when you land in an international airport between noon and maybe 4 or 5ish, it's going to be super busy. Although as a JET participant, we were pushed earlier in the immigration line, we still had to wait for an hour or two through immigration and then pick up our baggage.  What's amazing in the JET Programme is that there's always someone there to guide you every step of the way until you reach your contracting organization. Jeju Island

Last weekend, my friend and I and her family went to Jeju island. Since my friend and I still have school we decided to only stay for 2 nights and 3 days. Her family was going to stay a couple more days than us. However, first we arrived in Jeju at around noon and met the tour guide. Since there was 6 of us all together one of us had to sit in the back. My friend's sister did it on the first day. Once we arrived, we wanted lunch and we ate some galbitang. Galbitang is basically rib soup? or beef soup? They stick a piece of meat in a soup and you add salt and pepper to your own desire. It's very bland without salt and pepper and without all the side dishes they provide you. Since my friend's parents are not good with the spicy foods. Galbitang was good but it took a lot of time to eat. On the way to our pension or resort house thing?, or the place we were going to stay over at, we stopped by the beach and took some pictures.
