2nd semester go go!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
Did everyone enjoy the holidays? Mine was mostly celebrated with family and immediately after new years, the next day I had to prepare to go back to Victoria and start the new spring semester. Looking at my semester schedule, I wonder whether I will survive or not. I am sure like any other semester I will, but this will be the first time I will attempt to complete six courses in one semester. I have always done four to five per semester. Pray I will go through this semester not smoothly... because I can foresee the tough times ahead but just merely going through the semester is good enough and not give up halfway. The good thing about the courses I'm taking though... I probably won't have exams during exam periods so my semester will finish on the last day of classes. Woot woot.
So what does the new year have in store for myself?
Right now, I see myself attempting to get through this semester whilst finding a job whilst possibly finding a new place to stay. I have to start thinking about summer plans as well, whether I will take summer school or not. On top of that, the funding is a big worry for myself.
Some might say, I should not worry about the summer stuff and think about my semester and just make sure I don't fail all my courses. That is of course a priority for me so when asked about my plans for 2013... I only have a four month plan so far and that is to study and not fail these six courses.
I received a great motivation today as I picked up a final essay I slaved over last semester and received this encouraging mark a long with encouraging comments throughout the paper.

I am so happy and proud that this paper will be my motivation for this semester. I can do this. The prof even said that she would like to use my paper as part of her course, when she teaches the course next semester. It was a simple and small gesture but it made my day today because even though I slave over and feel like giving up, if I work on it for a while, I can do this. This semester, I strive to be more organized and write most of my essays like this. MOST, not all because I know it's impossible, no matter how you think it, as I will have 6 courses. One of them is a language course on top of that.
This paper... will be my motivation! yes.

Work work work

So ever since I went came back from Victoria (I was there to look or houses) I have been busy with work! It is a really good thing and it keeps me busy during the summer but at the same time I get really tired at the end of the day. Let me start with my house searching adventures in Victoria. I wanted a place where it is cheap an close to campus. Yeah it is quite an idealistic approach but hey it's better than having no expectations I guess. However after going to look at places for three days straight, my future roommate and I got a little down from not finding anything and I almost compromised my requirements in order to have something. However, on the last house we looked at, we found something that both of us liked and that my friend liked as well. So that was good. Now all I got to do is to send some paperwork and the place is ours! Yes! I still cant believe we got that place.. All inclusive AND it is furnished AND it is close to campus! Ggah! I am soo happy. I had to go hom...

Back and forth~

By the time I was about to write about the rest of my Korean trip, I had to get ready to go home and then prepare to return to this side of the world to Japan. So my summer before arriving in Japan has been mostly been work and preparing to move out of Victoria and move overseas to Japan. Now that I have been in Japan, I feel like it's a sin for not having written anything. Arrived in Tokyo on August 3rd. We arrived an hour earlier than scheduled but that doesn't change anything because when you land in an international airport between noon and maybe 4 or 5ish, it's going to be super busy. Although as a JET participant, we were pushed earlier in the immigration line, we still had to wait for an hour or two through immigration and then pick up our baggage.  What's amazing in the JET Programme is that there's always someone there to guide you every step of the way until you reach your contracting organization. That is before the airport and after the airport. ...

Jeju Island

Last weekend, my friend and I and her family went to Jeju island. Since my friend and I still have school we decided to only stay for 2 nights and 3 days. Her family was going to stay a couple more days than us. However, first we arrived in Jeju at around noon and met the tour guide. Since there was 6 of us all together one of us had to sit in the back. My friend's sister did it on the first day. Once we arrived, we wanted lunch and we ate some galbitang. Galbitang is basically rib soup? or beef soup? They stick a piece of meat in a soup and you add salt and pepper to your own desire. It's very bland without salt and pepper and without all the side dishes they provide you. Since my friend's parents are not good with the spicy foods. Galbitang was good but it took a lot of time to eat. On the way to our pension or resort house thing?, or the place we were going to stay over at, we stopped by the beach and took some pictures. The view was beautiful and the color of the ocea...
